Latest News from Our Mentor Families
Hello SSPP Preschool and Pre-K Families,
There are a few common Preschool (3s)/Pre-K (4s) questions that we wanted to address. If you need additional information on any of these topics, please let us know. You can also email our principal, Tricia Weis ([email protected]
com, with any questions.
PRESCHOOL MEET AND GREET
There will be a Preschool Meet and Greet scheduled before the school year beings. This will give everyone a chance to meet, see the classroom, and ask questions. Both parents and students will be invited to attend. Day/Time TBD.
Preschool and Pre-K School Supply lists are posted here: https://www.
They are also attached to the this email. Please plan to bring all school supplies to the Meet and Greet.

Both Preschool and Pre-K students will need to submit the following:

There is no uniform requirement for Preschool/Pre-K.
However, there might be days when your student will want to wear a Spirit item. (Not required, but they are nice to have on Spirit Days!). There be another opportunity to purchase items over the summer.
Extended Day Information: https://www.
-Pre-K students (4s) will be able to utilize the SSPP Extended Day Program.
-At this time, Preschool students (3s) will not have access to before/after school care.
Protecting God’s Children: https://www.
Parents will likely have more opportunities to volunteer in the classroom next year! If you would like to do so, you will have to complete a Protecting God’s Children (PGC) course and a background check.
We HIGHLY recommend taking the class now, while they are still available online. Let us know if you have any questions about this process. You can also email Sean O’Dea ([email protected]), the person in charge of coordinating PGC at SSPP.
WHAT CAN I DO TO PREPARE MY CHILD FOR PRESCHOOL AT SSPP?
Per Mrs. Tempestini (SSPP Pre-K teacher):
“The bulk of the curriculum will be the alphabet and numbers. So, anything you can do with letter and number identification, beginning sounds, counting, one-to-one correspondence will be helpful. Other things to consider are identifying their name, writing their name, holding scissors correctly and cutting.
It is also important to talk to your child about going to school, separating from parents and letting them know what to expect. You can talk about how much fun it will be making new friends, learning new things, bringing a lunch (if applicable), getting a backpack, while also reassuring your child that you (or whoever it will be) will be there after school and will be excited to hear about their day.”
Feel free to reach out directly to Mrs. Tempestini ([email protected]
