On the morning of Wednesday, November 6, Sgt. Jonathan Pope, met with our maintenance staff…Lou Pozek, Rich Row, Chuck Taff and myself to observe the current procedures. Although things went smoothly, Sgt. Pope did feel there was a in the better solution, one that offered less risk, especially in the winter when the driving surface is wet, snowy, and icy.
His recommendation was that cars enter and exit off Benton in the shape of a U instead of the two lanes we now have where drivers let their children with their car facing the elementary building.
Under the new configuration, parents would drop off their children when they pull up their cars alongside the elementary building facing west. This enables the children to depart from the passenger side and walk along the north side of the elementary building where a lane will be designated by the placement of wooden horses.
